EVENTS

This year's commemoration of Africa Malaria day will take place in countries across Africa and activities will be supported by a range of partners - WHO, Unicef, multi/bi-lateral agencies, international, national and local NGOs, and the private sector.

The primary audience for events and activities will be regional policymakers, media, public health workers, civil society groups and communities affected by malaria, highlighting the vital role of joint efforts to fight malaria and to ensure maximal international commitment and resources to do so.


 
 

EUROPE

  • April 6th - Europe/USA: release of Africa Live - The Roll Back Malaria concert on DVD

  • April 24th - Geneva, Switzerland: RBM Partnership event in collaboration with the permanent delegations to the African Union, diplomatic missions and RBM partners.

  • April 25th - Brussels, Belgium: Malaria Consortium and RBM Secretariat event in Belgian and European Parliaments.

  • April 28th - Stockholm, Sweden: event around malaria and gender issues organized by the Swedish Development Agency, Sida, in collaboration with Kvinnoforum, Femme Africa Solidarité, Multilateral Initiation on Malaria, and RBM Secretariat.

USA

  • April 25th - Washington, USA: the Global Health Council and Friends of the Global Fight will co-sponsor a congressional briefing addressing a host of malaria related issues.

AFRICA

  • End of March until April 10th - Niger, Zanzibar (Tanzania) and Burundi: Journalist visits to countries where Global Fund grants have been used successfully.
  • April 25th - Somalia and Ethiopia: UNICEF will hold activities to commemorate the day in Somalia and support national events in Ethiopia.
  • The month of April - Across Africa: Rebroadcast of the AFRICA LIVE concert in 45 countries (to be confirmed)
  • May - Tanzania: UNDP & UN planning to deliver nets bought from proceeds from United Against Malaria Concert in Geneva.
