The Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA) in partnership with the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria have developed a management guide as a tool in developing and implementing integrated malaria control programs in endemic countries. The guide provides direction for private sector collective action on malaria as part of a broader effort to meet the Millennium Development Goal of reducing malaria deaths by 50 percent by 2010.
The guide makes it clear that to reduce the impact of malaria, it is necessary to develop a systematic, multi-pronged approach to interventions, using a framework that incorporates the biology, pathophysiology and epidemiology of malaria infection with environmental, economic and sociopolitical factors. It is intended as a high level overview with links to more in-depth information about the technical aspects of malaria control, the guide is based on current best practices and lessons learned from other successful malaria control programs. The guide utilizes business management tools that are applicable in public health settings and contains linkages to other sectors.
