Description of group:
The Resources Working Group (RWG) focuses on increasing and sustaining global and country resources available for malaria control programs. It also builds a consensus on resource mobilization approaches for agreed strategies designed to scale-up programs and initiatives, including support for evidence-based best practices.
Overview:
The RWG provides guidance on options to finance of effective and sustainable malaria control e.g. Affordable Medicines Facility for Malaria (AMFm). It also coordinates partner efforts to track resources spent on malaria control e.g. National Health Accounts malaria sub-accounts exercises. Finally, it coordinates and helps prioritize partner efforts to conduct studies on the economics of malaria control that serve to enhance partner use of funds in tackling malaria.
For further information, please refer to the RMWG Revised Terms of Reference adopted at the 18th RBM Board meeting in May 2010.
Aims for 2009-10:
- Continue to provide guidance around effective financing such as AMFm, tracking of funds within countries such as malaria sub-accounts, and the economics of malaria control.
- Frontload financing from the Global Fund and WG grants for LLIN and provide voluntary third party procurement service to enable global scale-up by 2010.

RBM Executive Committee Meeting: Establishment of Global ACT Subsidy Task Force

An Expert Workshop and Consultative Forum on a High-Level Buyer Subsidy for Artemisinin-Based Combination Therapies (ACTs) took place in Amsterdam on 18 and 19 January 2007. In Amsterdam the malaria community strongly endorsed the project of a global subsidy and suggested the creation of a RBM Task Force to steer the project.
