RBM and China plan intensified collaboration in global malaria control
11 December 2009: The Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM) and China's Ministry of Health have announced today plans to closely collaborate on implementing in Asia and Africa the Global Malaria Action Plan (GMAP) for malaria control and elimination.
A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Health in China met with RBM's Executive Director today to discuss ways to expand existing synergies.
A major donor for development in Africa, China has already helped improve malaria control competency in endemic countries. With support from China, malaria centers were established in 30 African countries. China is also on the frontline of commodity production for malaria control and malaria elimination research.
Roll Back Malaria is a global health partnership mobilizing financial resources and diverse expertise to implement the Global Malaria Action Plan and reach the internationally agreed 2010-2015 malaria control and elimination targets. RBM provides extensive technical and management support to endemic countries and coordinates a global effort to report on impact of control activities by the end of 2010.
