With the departure of Professor Awa Marie Coll-Seck today, Dr Teuscher stepped into the position of Executive Director ad interim of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership. The appointment of a new Executive Director is expected to be announced at the next RBM Board meeting in May 2012.
After eight years at the helm of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM), Professor Awa Marie Coll-Seck decided that she would not renew her mandate as Executive Director. She stated: "I am particularly happy and proud of the work accomplished, but the time has come for me to consider new horizons."
The theme for World Malaria Day 2012 - "Sustain Gains, Save Lives: Invest in Malaria" focuses on the critical need for continued investment in malaria control to safeguard the gains that have been made over the past decade and to promote health and development in malaria-endemic countries.
